Birds of Summer

These birds have come to visit. There are a lot of them. Probably over 100. They flew very close to me as I was taking pictures. I could even hear their wings flap. I think they are pretty amazing! I could sit for hours looking up at them if I weren't afraid of getting poop in my face!!!

Tick tock...

Oh, this looks too close to a Senior picture!

Time does fly by. He will be a Junior in August. Will I be ready for the empty nest at the age of 38?

Potato Bar

At the Meet the Authors Reception they had the neatest thing. A potato bar! They served a scoop of mashed potatoes in a martini glass and then you could choose your toppings. Above is a picture of the potato bar. Greg and I are 5th and 6th in line to have our potato experience.

Southern Kentucky Bookfest

This weekend was the SOKY Bookfest. Greg and I got the opportunity to go to a reception for the authors attending the Bookfest on Friday night. We had a nice evening tasting all the good food and chatting with several authors. Greg got the privilege of meeting his favorite author, Harlan Coben. I got the pleasure of meeting Virginia Smith. She is an author from Kentucky who writes fiction for the Christian market. On Saturday, while I got my hair done, Greg went and met with the authors again and was able to get three signed books by Harlan Coben for him and a signed copy of Virginia Smith's new book Stuck in the Middle for me. Stay tuned to see my opinion of the book.

SPRING!

New leaves on the willow tree.

Bird house ready for new residents.

The cows have returned to the field behind our house.
Looking at the bull reminded me of one time when my nephew was visiting. We have a pasture behind our house and in front of our house. It was a sunny spring day and there was a bull in the back pasture and a bull in the front pasture. The two bulls spotted each other and started acting as bulls do snorting and kicking up dirt. My nephew, who was probably 4 at the time, saw the encounter between the bulls and said, "boy that cow sure is hungry". Greg and I had a good laugh at that and were reminded of the innocence of a child. We still talk about that frequently.

I miss the South.

I'm not sure if it is true for every person or just us Southerners. I feel a real attachment to where I spent a lot of my life, Mississippi. I live in a beautiful area of the country now but I still miss things of the south.

Magnolia trees

Not the little ones that grow up here in KY. The ones that have been around for years whose limbs reach out with a strong gracefulness.

Pear salad

This used to be a staple at the supper table when I was growing up. I have to admit I haven't fixed it for my family. I did describe it to my husband once and it took a while for the confused look to leave his face.

Scenes like this

Been a while...

Well, it's been quite a while since my last post!
My cold I had during my last post turned into a respiratory infection. While on antibiotics for my RI my loving husband decided to re-gift something he got at work to me. The full blown FLU! Yikes! We were two sickly people. Luckily our son didn't get it. We have since fully recovered and now Spring Fever has set in!

I have been reinspired to blog by Camille. Read her blog. It will crack you up.

So, more posts to come soon!

Ugh! To be cold and have a cold.

In honor of the cold weather I thought I would post some of my "artistic" pictures from 2004.

We may not have it all together...

but together we have it all!
This is my first blog entry ever. I decided to create this blog as a way of keeping in touch with friends and family as well as new friends I may gain through blogging.
One of my favorite sayings is "we may not have it all together, but together we have it all". That sums up my family. We are such goof nuts who don't always have it all together. When we come together as a family unit we definitely have it ALL- love, honor and commitment! I'm truly blessed to have a wonderful husband who is my second best savior next to Jesus Christ, a wonderful son, and the best extended family in the world!
